McDonald’s

Most of my work in the Global Web Communications department at McDonald’s® was created for their intranet ( ”AccessMCD” ) and private in nature.  I have tried to include some small thumbs for you to get an idea of my abilities in the gallery below. I also worked on the AboutMcDonalds.com website which is public. Initially I created and uploaded content, and  then later managed an external vendor to do that. Please visit it here http://www.aboutmcdonalds.com – I helped create/support many of the media center pages and their imagery and layout. Site uses Day Communique 4 CMS. There are also some earlier works in the gallery from when I was in the Creative Services department. Press the i button in the upper-right of the gallery for information about each project.

The following is my design strategy taken from my PowerPoint deck where I pitched my design for the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention 2010 Website.

The goal was to create something “edgy” and engaging – something radically different from what was offered in the past. This was to reflect the very different approach the convention floor is going to be and the way content is going to be delivered to attendees. After careful thought of these factors, time constraints, design and theme elements available at present (which was none) – a less drastic but modular approach was conceived. Through simple page layouts with splashes of bold color messages could be brought to life. Using small Flash widgets that could easily be updated by using a single XML file the “FLOG” idea could be accomplished within the current authoring environment much easier. Other widgets could also be added as needed – an Orlando weather widget for example. This approach relies on a more friendlier, conversational model rather than a dramatic onslaught of a new website architecture that some worldwide audiences – due to language and culture – might find a hindrance.
